Last year I did a ‘34 in 34’ post, which was a bunch of stuff I wanted to do the year I turned 34. And I actually managed to do a few of them! Some of them were a bit ambitious (apparently 34 books + 3-4 books in French was a bit of a stretch goal) but looking back I actually managed to complete a surprising number off my list.
I’m about to pop with baby number 2, so I don’t feel like now is the best time to make ambitious plans for the year ahead. So this year I’m going to list 35 things that have happened or that I’ve made this year instead.
Managed to publish 46 newsletters!
Did lots of breastfeeding
Had a staycation with my sister and niece at a resort in Tahiti
Swam in freshwater grottos…
Rappelled down a cliff for the first time…
And went out on a holopuni (pirogue with a sail)
(I didn’t actually manage to do any rock climbing though!)
Had a visit from dad
Had some dolphins come and swim with us on our regular daily swim
Went back to Australia, where we…
And did lots of little road-trips to McCrae, Torquay and Port Franklin
Celebrated Auguste’s first birthday
Welcomed 2 new kittens to the house
Adopted out the 2 other kittens
Collected lots and lots of eggs, made plenty of frittata and lemon butter
Got some new hives and harvested some honey
Learnt how to drive the scooter
Lots of boat trips and snorkelling
Started back at yoga
Celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary
Was awarded a travel grant (!!!) for a graphic recording project that will happen in 2026
Completed a bunch of client illustration projects
Sold a painting I’d been working on for a while (to the lovely lady who cleans our house!)
Finished a long overdue commission for a high school friend
Was commissioned to write a guide to Tahiti
Ate my first fondue in the mountains
Visited 4 waterfalls in Tahiti
Visited the James Normal Hall Museum
Grew our second baby
I really thought I’d be able to add ‘had a second baby’ onto the list, however baby is still not here yet!
Overall, the year was a fun juggle of motherhood, making art, and dealing with the exhaustion of being pregnant a second time. I have a feeling 35 is going to be just as chaotic, fun and creative as 34.

Highlights from 2024
Last year I did a 2023 highlights post which made me realise just how big a year it was. Well, this year was maybe just as big, especially with the introduction of Auguste who is now 10 months old.
